What is DMARC?
DMARC is short for domain-based message authentication reporting and conformance. It’s an email protocol designed to prevent spoofed or phished emails from being appearing to be sent from your domain.
It’s free to use and works by authenticating an email to align the SPF and DKIM records.
DMARC essentially broadcasts to the world, and specifically inbox providers like Gmail, what to do with unauthorized use of your email.
Three types of DMARC policies:
- none: which only monitors your email traffic
- quarantine: which sends unauthorized emails to the spam folder.
- reject: completely blocks unauthorized email from being dlivered.
