In May 2023 I quit my stable full time job to work for myself.
There’s a lot of information about Solopreneurs out there but they didn’t have enough details.
I wanted to know exactly how they got started:
- How much money did they make starting out?
- What does it cost them to run their business?
- How did they grow?
So I started my own newsletter.
It’s called The Early Exit Club.
What Is The Early Exit Club?
The Early Exit Club is a weekly newsletter about how I quit my job to build a $20k/month business.
I’ve been building a business on the side for the last 10 months while also working a full time job at a startup.
But it got to the point where I couldn’t do both.
So I left behind a great and stable salary to pursue self-employment.
You can read more about how and why I got started in my first newsletter.
How do I make money?
Good question!
Every month I document my income, costs, and how my projects are going.
My first update was the month of May.
My income is split between:
- Consulting
- Website income
I make money on this website in a few ways:
- Affiliate deals
- Banner ads
- Sponsorships
What happens when you hit $20k/month?
Honestly, I don’t know.
I picked $20k/month randomly because it was a big number, sounds cool, and means I’m making at least $200k/yr.
My wife and I would love to move to NYC and $200k is enough for a decent but certainly not super comfortable lifestyle there.
I’ll figure it out when I get there.
What are your long term plans for the Early Exit Club?
I want to build a community to help people make the same transition in their life.
But I’m actively avoiding becoming another Guru hawking his bullshit course on Instagram or Youtube.
I genuinely want to help people and provide a community for people to build the life they’ve always dreamed of.
It’s hard to talk about that without skewing into Guru territory, but I know I can do it.
Anyone who has met me once can testify to my genuine desire to be helpful.
So stay tuned.
